ProGuard Customised Personal Earplugs
ProGuard an entirely new approach to hearing protection; the aim is to simplify the process of buying custom-fit earplugs and if you have any question or concerns that you may have: please call our dedicated drum department who will help assist you - 01323 639335.
ProGuard will become a series of new products devoted to protecting the user from his or her sound environment. The launch of the first in the range is designed to meet the needs of DJ’s, Concert Goers, Music Lovers and Music Professionals worried about the level of sound entering their ears and wanting to preserve their hearing against noise related hearing loss that includes deafness, tinnitus and other conditions that can be attributed to noise “overdose”.
Proguard have all become more aware of our hearing senses needing special protection, typically it's the ears sensitivity to higher frequency sounds that we start to lose at first an important area for musicians and music lovers, making it harder to discriminate speech from background sounds; certainly ringing in the ear after being exposed to loud music is your body warning you that you overdone it; take this very seriously as if you continue to ignore it, it can become permanent. There is no medical cure or treatment!
If your hearing is damaged, it is an irreversible life-changing progression. Prevention as we all know is better than cure which is where ProGuard come in.

Features & Specification
ProGuard Custom Sound Attenuating Earplugs give your ears the protection
needed to safeguard your hearing. Fitted with calibrated acoustic
filters, your ProGuard’s will reduce the sound reaching your eardrum
without destroying the acoustics, detail and dynamics of the music;
think of it as a volume control for your ear. ProGuard’s are CE marked
and comply fully with PPE regulations.
ProGuard earplugs are really comfortable and suitable for long periods of use; they fit discreetly into the ear canal and are made to your exact specification, completely protecting your hearing health in high noise entertainment venues. Manufactured from non-allergenic, soft medical grade silicon they only require occasional washing in warm soapy water and drying thoroughly before re-using to give years of prolonged use.
Recommended by us, ProGuard’s can be supplied with a choice of two attenuation filters: Medium for regular musicians/clubbers and high for DJ’s/very loud bands and drummers.
Custom-made ProGuard Attenuating Earplugs are the ultimate in comfort and will match every contour of your ear giving a perfect fit. Before you can obtain the finished item, it is necessary to have an impression made of your ears; this procedure must be carried out only by a qualified Audiologist appointed by ProGuard. This will usually take place at a clinic local to you or at Proguard's own facilities in Beckenham or Aylesbury.
Having your ear impressions taken is a painless and fairly quick procedure but should only be carried out by a qualified professional. Firstly your ears will be fully examined, this is done to make sure the ear canal is clear of cerumen (ear wax) and the inner ear looks healthy. A small foam block is placed in the ear canal to act as a seal to stop the silicon at a certain point on the journey into the ear canal. The impression can only now be taken by injecting a two-part silicon material into the ear with a special syringe. The silicon is left in the ear to cure for about five minutes and then removed: a very simple procedure. Once the impression has been taken and the audiologist is satisfied that the impression will produce a high quality custom fit, they will then be sent and processed in our laboratory where the final product will be manufactured.
It is essential that qualified technician carries out this procedure; it is important that the ear is examined thoroughly to establish that it is healthy and that there is not a build up of cerumen (ear wax). Impressions cannot be taken from an infected ear as the process may aggravate the infection and the impression is unlikely to be accurate. If you have a perforated ear drum or have had ear surgery it is essential that you consult the Audiologist before you have any ear impressions taken. If there is any doubt about the ear itself not being healthy then we are obliged not to carry on with the procedure and refer you to a Doctor.
